Susan Boyle
How she got famous was fun, but I've never rated her as a singer. How has she remained in the limelight with such an ordinary voice?

Those artists you mentioned are 'legends' to some, king of rock and roll, queen of country, old timer still going strong and a diva (that I like too) but Susan Boyle appeals to the ordinary person on the street, well those that like her and as pointed out already, she's inoffensive - she's easy to listen to and seems genuinely a nice person, I like her because she didn't get there easy or through life easy, it's a great break for her
Tarja Turunen, Annie Lennox, Jessie J and actually Leona Lewis although I don't like anything she's ever done all have markedly better and more extraordinary voices than Susan Boyle, but that shouldn't really matter, it's the overall package that matters. Leona Lewis is very talented but I hate the way she does songs, so it's a moot point.
