Are there any songs that ALWAYS make you well up, no matter how often you listen to them? I've got three.
Emma by Hot Chocolate
Cat's On The Cradle by Harry Chapin
Alone Again (naturally) by Gilbert O'Sullivan.

The song "Story of My Life" was in the musical Wonderful Town by Leonard Bernstein but it was cut for some reason.

It is not a very well know song but I find it very sad, about a girl who looks everywhere for happiness but then the "rain comes falling down" and spoils it.

Sung here (brilliantly) by Judy Blazer.

If it was better known I could imagine people like Barbra Streisand doing it.
