RIP Chris Squire.
Used to be with Yes hadn't he.
I don't know his music well, but my brother was a huge fan & would have been very sad at this news.

RIP Chris.
Sad day indeed, Andy. Yes are one of my favourite prog-rock groups ever. Jon Anderson's vocals may have been front and centre, but Chris was very integral to the band's unique sound. RIP Chris.
RIP

he was good, very good - but i guess "definitive" might depend on your favoured music genre. for the progressive rock field chris squire was right up there but for me, for all round versatility, it has to be carol kaye.
Big Yes fan. Everyone's going. ;-(
Owner of a broken heart! :-(
Me ... Gutted... man was a genius and awesome all round musician RIP Chris.
Link here to the 18 minute song "Close to the Edge" by Yes, one of my favorite "songs".

The first minute or two may be a bit avant garde for some, but then it settles down and some of the playing is wonderful by all the musicians.

I love it where Rick Wakeman comes in on the church organ part way into the song.

Owner of a broken heart is a bit 'sell-out' Yes. Not exactly a proper Yes song.
Love this one ..
Great bass player, very melodic and inventive, sadly missed.
Zacs- Master, Owner of a broken heart is not a Yes song, that song is Owner of a lonely heart. It was my take on the sad news.
It's very sad to think we were listening to the likes of Yes. And now, 40+ years later, they have a karaoke clown headlining Glastonbury. Who'd have thought?
It is a sad day, but we can rejoice in what he's left behind.

I interviewed CS for Bass Guitar Magazine and he told me that he has been playing the same Rickenbaker bass for over forty years. He has had it painted and sanded that many times that it now has a unique body weight which he thinks contributes to the sound. How said it won't be played again.

cant find words to describe the gigs, just mind blowing. i was mesmerized!!!
chris squire rip.
You sure it wasn't 1977, piggy? I was on leave from the army in early November '77 and saw them at Stafford. I returned to my unit in Germany and saw them again in Dusseldorf in mid November.
ken4155, i´m almost sure it was ´78 cuz it was the going for the one tour, but i could be wrong
