When I was young in the 1960s you had 45 rpm singles (2 tracks, one each side), and LPs (Long Players) with about a dozen tracks on them.
But because LPs were expensive some groups brought out EPs (Extended Plays) with 4 tracks on them (I think the Beatles brought out a number of EPs from their first album).
But nowadays with music now fairly cheap, and "discs" a thing of the past, it seems to me the concept of an "EP" is pretty much dead.
