A radio ad just described Craig David's new CD as "the most anticipated album of 2016". Really? I thought he went out of favour over a decade ago. Anyone here interested in his new album?

nope !
No. Never was interested in him.

I showed my age the other day by mistakingly talking about LPs rather than CDs. I felt ancient. :/
Well his album is number one so he must be in favour with some. He made a successful return to the charts with a top 10 single about a year ago (when the bassline drops) and has had a couple more since. He had a successful run as a DJ or whatever the word is now in Ibiza and he has a tour coming up. I'm surprised his album is number one though
I went in a music store teh other now and notive dthat what used to be the chart/top 40 section seemed to be called Audi Trending or something similar. kids still know what you mean by charts/top 40 but never call it the Hit Parade or refer to a disco! (Although there is a group called Panic at the Disco so maybe it is okay)
Just because a radio ad says it, does not make it a fact.

That's the nature of advertising.

They are not likely to say 'Craig David has a new album coming out, but hey, who gives a stuff, we certainly don't ...'

So they have to instil a sense of anticipation because if you tell people that other people are 'anticipating', a section of your target audience will be curious enough to find out why, and that is the job of the advertisers, to turn curiosity into sales.
