Learning The Ukulale.

As a drummer, i've always wanted to learn to play the guitar. However, i feel that's probably a little beyond me so i've thought about the Ukulele.

I've seen a few online tutorials and it seems fairly straight forward. I can't read music to save my life and wouldn't know a G major from a sargent major.

So....would i be wasting my time? Would appreciate some input or tips.

To those of us who are into the wonderful world of written music, and music theory, it's rewarding and great fun. It's not for everyone. A pretty steep learning curve.

The simple tuition books are great. You don't need to know how to construct a chord. Just follow the "shapes" they give you. They simply tell you where to stick your fingers.

Thanks mate, just bought a cheapy starter one from ebay complete with clip on charger. If it's no good, at least i've got something to batter the kids with lol

I've 'played' the guitar for some years and I fancied a different challenge. There was a group ukulele class at my local music school, so I joined. It's been great fun and it's much easier than the guitar.
I started with a soprano uke, then quickly changed to a tenor as my fingers are far too big for the smaller instrument.
