Robert Smith of The Cure sings with quite a strong London accent.  Also Dolores whatsername of The Cranberries, and Sinead O' Connor sometimes, both sing with Irish accents.
Mike Sarne, (strong cockney accent) 'Come Outside' and 'Burn up on me Bike'.
..nouvelle vague (french girl singer).... and cerys matthews from catatonia (strong welsh accent) ...

thanks everyone

someone said the proclaimers first, but that post has been deleted..Weird!

I can only think that some accents are added on purpose by the voclaists concerned - especially Cerys Mathews.

Listen to Van Morrison, whose vocal is accentless, but his speaking voice denotes a Belfast accent that makes Ian Paisley sound like John Gielgud!

Gruff Rhys of Super Furry Animals doesn't hide his Welshness under a bushel either!
Liam Gallagher, anyone?
Paul Smith of Maximo Park I would say sang in his accent.

How about Eric Idle?

Juliet Turner has brought out some great original material, and has never tried to hide her Northern Irish accent.
