In the song 'sidewinder sleeps tonight' what is the chorus.  I have been told it is 'calling Jamaica' or 'coming in and trying to waken her'.

Anyone know the real answer.

'Call me when you try to wake her up'

Sung really, really fast!
Thought it was calling Cheryl Baker (Bucks fizz fame) sorry, could'nt resist.......

"Call when you try to wake her (up)" I hear.

And later "I can always keep standing up" :)

"I can always sleep standing up", methinks. But the main bit is as squiggle says. Incidentally, when the single first came out, the press ads in NME, Melody Maker and the like played on the ambiguity of this line quite a lot - they had a mock interview with Michael Stipe which mentioned various didfferent interpretations, and I think Stipe claimed in the ad (as a joke - this DEFINITELY isn't the real line) that it actually said "Colin Went To Try Some Jamaica Rub".

Damn this song! I thought I had it figured out!

LOL you guys and girls might like www.kissthisguy.com - a whole world full of misheard lyrics :)

coming in to wake her....though i always thought it sounded like calling colin baker. Couldn't work out what the song had to do with Dr Who
