I use www.allofmp3.com.

mp3 files are available in 128, 192, and 320 kbps forms, increasing in quality and file size for the higher bit rates. This allows you to choose the quality that best suits your needs.

However, the real reason for using this site is that is so cheap and more importantly - legal.

I've just checked and the new Depeche Mode CD ' Playing The Angel' is available for $1.47. That's the equivalent of 87p. ..for the whole album.

The site is based in Russia, and after registering, you pay (I think) $15, $25 or $50 into your account, and each time you download, your balance is reduced accordingly. I was a bit wary at first (was this a scam to rip me of, or debit my credit card with unauthorised payments). But in the year that I've been using this site I've not had any dodgy transactions.

All the materials on the site are available for distribution through Internet according to license # LS-3М-05-03 of the Russian Multimedia and Internet Society. Under the license terms, MediaServices pays license fees for all the materials subject to the Law of the Russian Federation "On Copyright and Related Rights".

You officially can download material here, but not legally. The Legal terms state that it is up to you to check out your local area regulations for Legal allowances....

I'm sure you're not covered 'a la' uk rules.

This website and others based in Russia utilise a loophole in the Russian law to offer this service, as you can imagine they are not very popular with the record industry who are not getting their cut of the sale. Search the net and you will find the full story on them.
