Yes, it does sounda bit like Happy in the vocal style. I hadn't thought of Britney. But the chourus is based on the tune of much older song than either of these

Yes, that's the one.
I'd been humming along a few times thinking it sounded so familiar (Plan B, Pharrell Williams?) before it clicked, and then in the chart show on radio 1 last night they confirmed that the band had deliberately done this as their version of Please Mr Postman (but with totally new lyrics and arrangement)
