who are the sickest /most controversial satanic rockers? deicide, gwar or some others?
any fans here?
i find them shocking and listening(IIRC) to a deicide song in the mid /late 80s containing the words "watching waiting" about killing christ sang in a demonic growling voice, more terryfying than countless horror films i watched

I think Deicide have the edge because Glen Benton is a practicing Satanist. I remember a picture of him on the cover of Kerrang! a couple of years ago snapped in the act of tearing up a bible. Even as an aetheist, I found that image disturbing.

i must say i agree with andy, although glen never did carry out his planned suicide at 33! bands like cannibal corpse and cradle of filth are into shock tactics, but can seem a bit too staged, whereas glen benton is a scary man, he burnt an inverted cross on his own forehead!

Is any of it for real? Shock tactics are for publicity regardless how extreme they seem to some people. Tearing up bibles for photos just makes 'good' press, lets face it how often do you hear these bands on mainstream media? To be honest is anyone who is likely to be offended by the music or lyrics going to be to be listening to Deicide in the first place?
