Including Capito, Bigbad, Tills and others. If you missed the Johnnie Walker show safnoon use the catch up facility. Great interview with guitarist Elliot Randall. The guy is older than me(just) and full of life. Some great anecdotes and great tracks picked by him. I listened to it and will reprise again tomorrow.
I had to look him up to be honest, Togo. I wasn't really interested in individual musicians in my younger days. It was the overall sound that I liked. I used to love Steely Dan.
You won't be disappointed then Tills. He tells one or two tales that are interesting. That is why I flagged Bigbad up. I know that she is a fan of the Dan and has probably even seen him in concert.
Yes Tills although a little disappointed that there was no reference evident about the Staffs regiments that were there. Caernarfon Castle put on a great info pack about the Welsh regiments that were there and "She who must be obeyed" was very pleased about that. It is of course a very truncated example of the original "Weeping poppy" concept but it was lovely to see that life in the old pot bank still exists. Do not wear sandals.
I saw the poppies in the moat of the Tower of London and it's hard to describe the emotional effect when you realised that every poppy was a life lost, even now it brings a lump to my throat just thinking about it.
Ah, Togo, thanks for thinking of me.
It’s been a long time since I listened to the radio - can’t stand all the talking sloblock that happens : I just wanna hear music!
Last radio station was a Dutch one called Arrow Rock Radio. I even went to their festival in 2005.
First saw Steely Dan in 2006, and on that and subsequent occasions, Jon Herington was the guitarist.
I actually think that Johnnie Walker helped to shape my musical taste in my youth. When all the other Radio 1 DJ’s were just playing top chart hits, he always seemed to play other stuff too.
In fact, I recall him often playing a song called ‘Dance With Me’ by Orleans, which I absolutely loved.
I never had the record, but when music downloads became available, it was the first song I downloaded.
It still makes me go “yes! Got it!” as soon as I hear the opening notes.
