Most Overrated Music Star?

Who do you think is the most overrated music star ever? For me it has to be Elton John

I used to think he was the spawn of the devil, until I saw him on a BBC 4 programme, where he went back to his roots. He sang soul and blues very well.

Their wealth is no reflection of whether or not they overrated or not. In fact it could be argued that successful sales are actually a measure of their overrating as there's no accounting for taste (or lack of it as the case may be).

There have always been artistes I could never see the fuss about, but as there are entire swathes of music genres I don't like that's understandable.

I was wondering why you had to make a facile comment about the post that 'means nothing'. I think it's a rather demeaning way to treat a poster who has engendered so much interesting discussion. I was trying to find a reason why you would do that and the option I came up with was envy.
