I have seen clips on TV, the one that sticks of course, is the man covering his dead baby, while the soundtrack plays 'Drive' by The Cars. I have never been able to listen to that song since without a lump in my throat.
I recall one of the nurses at one of the aid compounds saying that a mother left her baby outside the gate for the nurses to care for, but the nurses couldn't take the baby in, because the following day there would have been hundreds more, so they had to leave the baby there to die. Utterly heart-breaking.
I was only seven at the time but very musically aware, and my dad made a big thing about how important it was that I watch a bit of "history" so there are pictures of me with a jumper dress and a pony tail on the side of my head singing along with the concert. I remember it quite clearly. We watched it home with loads of friends and family. I know i emptied my piggy bank and gave it to my dad to donate and apparently asked if they would like my favourite timothy bear when someone was talking about how the kids didnt have any toys or xmas.
