It's difficult to define The Lightning Seeds as anything other than a solo project by music producer & guitarist Ian Broudie, which also happened to include various other musicians.

If they must be thought of as a group then they have been on an elongated break since about 2000, with Broudie concentrating on producing (e.g. The Coral, The Zutons) and his other 'solo' work.
