Ebay Signed Music Memorabilia
2 Answers
I'm keen to puchase signed Libertines memorabilia from cmsuk and other sellers on ebay. How much of a gaurantee is a certificate of authenticity and what are peoples opinions of the true origins of the signatures. It all appears fine but how can you tell and does anyone have any comments or experiences.

I have seen Smiths autographs on Ebay which I know are false because I have a signed 12" which I know is genuine, because i watched the band sign it in front of me.
The only advice is, if you don't know the source, go carefully - it's the easiest thing in the world to get ripped off.
There are sellers of signed memorabilia who add a picture of the star/band members signing the item to the listing as proof. If you are unsure about an item you can always ask the seller a question: could they email a picture of the signing to you, or give details of when and where and then do a bit of checking up on the web. A genuine seller should be more than happy to help. I have purchased two items recently and both sellers supplied pictures of band members signing the items.
