I'm guessing here but i'm sure both Telstar by ? and Acker Bilk- Strangers on the shore were both number one and were way before Albatross

they were indeed before albatross - but they also pre-dated TOTP.......

the shad's last no 1 (of 5 as solo performers) was Foot Tapper in March 1963. This was still 9 months before TOTP's first broadcast.
