I was working nights in 1992 and only had Bob Harris on Radio 1 for company- He played several songs that contained samples of other songs as part of the main body of the song.
One used the Ronettes , either Be My Baby or Baby I Love you,
Another used the Righteous Brothers, and another had Big Yellow Taxi in it.
The Ronettes one was a male singer who introduced the sample as 'And Ronnie sang '' as part of his lyrics, leading into Ronnies lines. I am not sure if it was a sample as such or wether she had re-recorded the lines.

Any help on any of the above much appreciated !

The song is 'Take Me Home Tonight' by Eddie Money. The Ronnie Spector part was from "Be My Baby'. I believe that Ronnie sang the her parts in the song rather than it being sampled from the original recording.

Frank- you are a star ! Anybody know any of the other 2 ?
Don't know if this is part of what you're seeking; but a few years ago Janet Jackson sampled "Big Yellow Taxi" rather substantially in one of her songs--"don't it always seem to go, that you don't know what you've got till it's gone".
