I have been a huge ELP fan for almost fifty years, and it dawned on me, watching a documentary on my computer, that until tonight, I have never heard Keith Emerson or Greg Lake speak before!

Carl I have, because I know him, but the other two, never ever heard them say anything apart from stage announcements.

It feels a little strange ...

prior to the 1973/74 tour, ELP released a single sided flexi-disc single which was given away with NME sometime that November. It featured the song "Brain Salad Surgery" (which wasn't on the album) and excerpts from the album. it came in a folding paper sleeve that mimicked the actual album cover. I worked in a newsagent's at the time and was assured of my copy. not sure if I still have it.....
Spice, 'Home' were early 70s (supported Mott The Hoople on a couple of tours) and released just the 3 albums before going their separate ways. The first, Pause For A Hoarse Horse is a tad C&W meets rock, but the 2nd is where they come into their own. Simply titled 'Home' it is the Album that got me well and truly hooked on them, (I hadn't heard the first album at the time). They then released their 3rd and final work, a concept album 'The Alchemist' which, again, I thought was the bees knees. Hand on heart, had they stayed together, they would probably have been my all-time fav band.
Soz for the deviation from your ELP, Andy, just thought i'd give Spice some Home background. By the way, Wakeman was God on keyboards - says so in the bible :-)
Yes indeed Ken. He did a concert for Herod.

'Jeezus' - what next - and from Theland too!
There was one long weekend with a mate in Wolverhampton and in four nights we saw (i) Genesis (w.Peter Gabriel (ii) The Man (iii) Incredible String Band and (iv) (and brilliant) Who and Quadrophenia.

I ended up getting the chance to book Genesis in Dundee (for £5k) when at Uni (though I was across the water) - Peter Gabriel out, Collins not sure about his vocals and they had a 5th temporary member, another drummer called Chester Thompson.
I remember a friend of mine saying "you have to come round and listen to this lp I've just bought" - these were the days when if you bought the latest Dylan/Byrds/Stones/etc release you'd ask your mates round to listen to it. Anyway I liked it and went out and bought it myself. Played it to death.

No problem at all Ken.

I do remember home, and Laurie Wisefield who went on to Wishbone Ash. Now he's a session and touring player.

What I didn't know was that Home's bassist is Cliff Williams who played bass for AC/DC until his retirement.
