Does anyone know what gymopedie in the tune of the same name by Satie means? Is it French or am I just showing my ignorance?

thanks to you both for your replies. That's eased a few worries in this part of the world.Gymnopedie( with an accent on the first e) is the French translation of Gynopaedia.. The piece of music was written by Satie who sounds more French than English, hence the French title to the piece of music
