Nearest I can find to 1997 is the Mike Flowers Pops who made no 39 in their usual lounge flavoured style in 1996. Will Young's massacre of the song didn't happen until 2002.

Yes I think maybe the setter is getting slightly confused with this one. José Feliciano released a compilation CD in 1997 called Light My Fire. His hit with it as a single though was way back in 1968. Hope this helps.
