Hi all. I am thinking of getting a Sony laptop with a docking station. The docking station allows me to insert the hard disc from my laptop into the docking station. Does this mean that I can connect the docking station to my desktop and effectively use my desktop but save things to the laptop hard disc? Also does it mean I can run a program from the laptop hard disc via the docking station through the desktop machine? I am sure the answers are yes but would like to know how people use theirs as well. Many thx.

I was under the impression that the docking station adds more features to your laptop like, maybe, ethernet connection, more USB ports, DVD drive, floppy drive, video card out for a monitor, keyboard and mouse connections etc. The guts of your machine (hard drive, memory, processor ect) are in your laptop. The docking station does not have any of these so will not run any programs it just adds extra features to your laptop.
