Hi - I know its not chatterbank - but just wondered if you had a favourite christmas song and why?

mine is jingle bell rock (heard it in Die Hard and just loved it)

Mine has to be: Fairytale Of New York - The Pogues Ft Kirsty MacColl - best christmas song EVER!!!

My top three in Top of the Pops style reverse order:

3. Christmas Wrapping by The Waitresses. Why? Just because it's a top tune, a bit different, and horribly underrated.

2. Stop The Cavalry by Jona Lewie. Why? Because while John Lennon's anti-war Xmas song slaps you round the face with its worthiness, this one has the courtesy to let you enjoy yourself first, and then stop and think about it.

1. A Fairytale of New York by The Pogues and the legend that was, is and always will be Kirsty MacColl. Why? Because it's a fantastic tune, rhymes maggot with faggot (and in a Christmas song too) - and because Kirsty's on it.

I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday was by Wizzard, not Shakin' Stevens. If that's the one you mean, then yes that's another belter - a wonderfully over-the-top everything including the kitchen sink production job. :-)

I really like Rock 'n Roll Christmas, but you don't seem to hear it much nowadays. Wonder why.

Definitely The Pogues and Kirsty, best Chrimbo song by a mile. Bitter-sweet lyrics with a great tune to boot. I heard an interview with two of them saying it was being re-released this week and that all the proceeds are going to charity (half going to the "Justice for Kirsty Appeal") so go and buy it NOW and make it the rightfully deserved Christmas No.1.

This year I have mostly enjoyed listening to Greg Lake�s �I believe in father Christmas� closely followed by Mike Oldfield�s �In dulce jubilo�. I do love Slade, Wizzard and all that but you hear them all the time. As the big day gets nearer I also love putting my carols CD on and Once in Royal David�s City is a blinder.

Tweety � I used to love Shaky when I was a kid but the jumpers he wore on ToTP and elsewhere to sing Merry Christmas Everyone were a sin.
