If i want to up the bass do i need to up the treble also and what is good ratios i dont understand they are both on zero if i put the bass on four should treble be on two or something help me
The bass knob boosts or reduces the lower frequencies, and the treble boosts or reduces the higher frequencies. You can adjust them to whatever you like, whatever sounds good. I'm talking about playback, not record.
There can be several knobs, each centred on different frequency ranges, but domestic equipment would only have the basic bass and treble.
Ther will be people here who can give more detail about this subject.
i think that people spend hours perfecting music in the studio then for people like my friends to just mess around with the different levels when they dont really know what they are doing they just think crank the bass up
Whatever is recorded in the studio is ultimately played back on a variety of different sound systems, most of which are rubbish in comaparison with the studio recording equipment. If your speakers don't have good bass response, then turning up the bass knob can help. The same with treble. Music is there for you to enjoy, so I still reckon you should adjust the knobs to give you a sound that sounds good to you.
