On google and youtube there are dozens of songs about totem poles, but none by the two artists you mention

Can you give us any further information? Was is a country music song, or more like a children's nursery rhyme? A lot of searches come up with inappropriate stuff, and nothing by the artists mentioned.

I found Kaw-Liga by Hank Williams, but it doesn't fit what you are describing.

Yes, I can't find a country song that fits the bill. Where did you hear it? And why do you think it was DO'D or Jim Reeves?

It's amazing that you found that, The Winner.

Not only does it sound nothing like Daniel ODonnell or Jim Reeves to me, it doesn't mention totem poles either- although to be fair the word 'lonely' is in there.
