Was it because she wanted to use his surname to stay famous in her career?

That's probably it.

Many divorced women wish to have the same surname as their children.

Maybe she wanted the same surname as their daughter.

I've divorced and kept the surname. It was just easier in many ways to keep it simple.

I've not stayed famous though...🤔🙄

My ex wife reverted to her maiden name well before our divorce was finalised. She never found fame though...obviously.

I'd been married nearly 30 years when we divorced.  I never even thought to change my name (although I've always written undermy maiden name).  When I ended up in France I found myself in a legal tangle because over there your birth name remains your legal name for the rest of your life. T.b.h. it's a much easier system and although I have remarried I keep my maiden name for banking etc. etc..

I daresay Priscilla never even thought to change it - that was her name.

She needed some way to identify herself after cabbage patch doll surgery.

Copied this from Vanity Fair.

Her most serious relationship was with writer-director Marco Garibaldi, whom she was with for over two decades. Together they had a son, Navarone Garibaldi, but never married.

“No one could ever match [Elvis],” Priscilla said.

Sorry, that doesn't explain why she kept the name.

I think it was because that was the name she was known by.

If I was her, I wouldn't have married Garibaldi.

Why get rid of the name Presley and take on the name of a biscuit?

she changed her name back to beaulieu during their divorce because she was with mike stone at the time. their divorce agreement (when she took him back to court for more money) also stated that she couldn't use the presley name for profit or for purposes in the entertainment business, which she agreed to. she changed it back to presley after elvis and his dad vernon died, then tried becoming an actress as priscilla beaulieu presley.
