Or maybe even Holst's Mars - The Bringer Of War (from The Planets).

To do exactly what it says on your tin (start quiet and build up) you need a copy of Carl Orff's Carmina Burana. Its a set of several short pieces, one of which (O Fortuna) will suit your purpose perfectly.

Beethoven's 9th Coral Symphony builds to climax as you describe.

Maurice Ravel's orchestral work, Bolro is the world's longest musical crescendo. Beginning quietly, the melody repeats over and over again, gradually increasing in volume for about fifteen minutes.

no im looking for a particular song haven't a clue who is the composer, its a very dramatic song starts off slow then builds up tempo and loudness. Gives me an impression of the industrial revolution (thats my project)

The more classical pieces used in Top Gear are by a man called Rob Dougan. The songs I recognise from Top Gear are "Furious Angels (Instrumental", "I'm Not Driving Anymore (Instrumental)" and "Speed Me Towards Death (Instrumental)". They are all on the Furious Angels album (2 Disc Enhanced version). You preview the album at www.cdnow.com. Hope this helps
