My friend is getting married in the summer and can't think of a song to have for their first dance. Does anyone have any suggestions? Or what song did you have for your first dance? Thanks everyone :-)

i think having B-52s, Love shack was an awesome idea!!!!!!!!!!!!!

joan armatrading - Love and afection....god what was we thinking...didnt last though...lol,
you're still the one----Shania Twain

I'm not married, but if I did get married there is only ONE choice for that first dance: 'Love Moves in Mysterious Ways' by Julia Fordham ... just the most beautiful lyrics in a song ... EVER!

I hope your friend has a perfect day.

These answers are brilliant, thank you so much :-) she's been looking through them all and thinks they're all great suggestions. They do have a 'song' but it's Groove Jet feat Spiller- Why does it feel so good. She wants something a bit more romantic x
We had "Never Be The Same Again" by Mel C - was "our song" from almost the beginning and if you listen to the words, describes us beautifully.
White Wedding - Billy Idol
Tango in the Night - Fleetwood Mac
Lets Dance - David Bowie
Ball N' Chain by Big Mama Thornton ( I had to Google that as id never heard of it / her)

without you - neillson

Unfinished Sympathy by Massive Attack

fields of gold by sting

Another One Bites The Dust - Queen

My daughter and her husband had- Perfect Day by Lou Reed.

My husband and I chose "Have I Told You Lately" by Van Morrison (although Rod Stewart did a fab version as well!) ".... you fill my heart with gladness, take away my sadness, ease my troubles that's what you do...." Awe, memories....

We had "Ace of Spades" by Motorhead.....Quality, you should have seen the looks on all the grannies faces!!!!!

We did follow that up with "Into my Arms" by Nick Cave.

We had "When I Fall in Love" by Nat King Cole. How about :

"Groovy Kind of Love" - Phil Collins

"Your Song" - Elton John

"Wind Beneath My Wings" - Bette Midler

"Just The Way You Are" - Billy Joel

"When You Tell Me That You Love Me" - Diana Ross

I'll stop now, I could go on forever!!!

How about Lonestar - Amazed - just read these lyrics:

Every time our eyes meet
This feeling inside me
Is almost more than I can take
Baby when you touch me
I can feel how much you love me
And it just blows me away
I've never been this close to anyone or anything
I can hear your thoughts
I can see your dreams
I don't know how you do what you do
I'm so in love with you
It just keeps getting better
I wanna spend the rest of my life
With you by my side
Forever and ever
Every little thing that you do
Baby I'm amazed by you

The smell of your skin
The taste of your kiss
The way you whisper in the dark
Your hair all around me
Baby you surround me
You touch every place in my heart
Oh it feels like the first time every time
I wanna spend the whole night in your eyes

I don't know how you do what you do
I'm so in love with you
It just keeps getting better
I wanna spend the rest of my life
With you by my side
Forever and ever
Every little thing that you do
Baby I'm amazed by you

Every little thing that you do
I'm so in love with you
It just keeps getting better
I wanna spend the rest of my life
With you by my side
Forever and ever
Every little thing that you do
Oh, every little thing that you do
Baby I'm amazed by you.

Ok everone, it's a toss up between Lonestar 'Amazed' (thanks gmalloch) or 'we have all the time in the word'

Thanks so much for your replies x

We had Ronan Keating's "You say it best when you say nothing at all" because it was the only one we could dance to! Turned out to be a great song that now means something to both of us.

Tell them to practice, believe me no matter how much you like the song it feels like a lifetime waiting for everyone else to join you on the dance floor.
