Heard a song, or rather part of one, recently and it's been haunting me since. I don't know either the singer or the title of the song but it may have been Rufus Wainwright or somebody singing in his style.

The song lyrics contain several lines of "Allelujah's" but it wasn't really a religious song as would be sang by choirboys! Is there anyone out there who knows what I'm talking about.

I would be very grateful.

Thanks

Is it Jeff Buckely Halleluiah? It goes, "I heard there was a secret cord, that david played and it pleased the Lord, but you don't really care for music do ya? Well it goes like this the fourth the fifth the minor fault and the major fifth fhe battle king composing halleluiah"
Well, Rufus Wainwright recorded the version of Leonard Cohen's Halelujah that appears on the soundtrack to Shrek, so that's probably it. Strangely, a different version appears in the film.

In any case, the Shrek versions are both based on Jeff Buckley's reading of Len's song!

Thanks guys, I think you may be right. The words sound sort of right. Will look into this.

Thanks again.

Hi. I think you're refering to Jeff Buckley's "Hallelujah" which was originally written and recorded by Leonard Cohen, although Buckley is far superior in my opinion. Rufus Wainwright has covered this although I believe his version is only available on the soundtrack for Shrek 2. Hope that helps,

Dan
