Sorry if this question seems a bit morbid, but I'm just curious to know what people,if they had the choice of 2 songs, would choose to be 'sent over to the other side' with.My 2 choices would be the obvious 'Time To Say Goodbye' by Andrea Bocelli + Sarah Brightman, and the not-so-obvious choice of 'Angel' by Chiara, the Maltese Eurovision entry of last year and a fine song to boot.I could imagine popular choices would be Angels by Robbie Williams,or You Raise Me Up by Westlife or Brian Kennedy, for example.

I'm On Fire by Springsteen

Redemption Song by Bob Marley

I agree with Comfortably Numb, but I also quite like the Scissor Sisters version.

I would like Some Fantastic Place by Squeeze. The words are uplifting and then something fun like the Monty Python song already mentioned to lighten the mood.

definitely disco inferno for a cremation, for the "burn baby burn" refrain and...

for burial, its got to be 'Going Underground' by The Jam!

In my Life.......The Beatles

Spirit in the Sky.....Norman Greenbaum

frightened by paul weller

dont fear the reaper by blue oyster cult

This reminds me of a story i heard about some poor soul who had drown. the family requested REM 'everybody hurts' but they played 'nightswimming' by accident.
Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong

for a cremation - smoke gets in your eyes

for a burial - down, down, deeper and down by Status Quo.

"When I rest my weary head

after all my words are said.

When my eyelids close,

on the weight of a hundred years.

Let me down easy"

"Let me down easy" by The Stranglers is booked at my demise, along with Stairway to Heaven.

Jeff Buckley - Hallelujah

Ryan Adams - The Bar is a Beautiful Place

Ryan Adams - Harder Now That it's Over

Bruce Springsteen - You're Missing

Absolute Beginners, David Bowie

Add Some Music, The Beach Boys

For a quite poignant but not too sad song I think I'm having Champagne Supernova by Oasis.

My brother says he wants "There Is A Light That Never Goes Out" by The Smiths for another idea

At some point I'll probably have to squeeze PJ and Duncan into my funeral though!! :D lets get ready to rhumble!!!

Ging.

Its not just the lyrics for Comfortably Numb but Dave Gilmore's guitar playing that has so much emotion in it.

Richard

One would have to be: Remember Me by Diana Ross

and just because it is one of my all time favs: Uptight by Stevie wonder

I confess I haven't read the whole thread (I'm lazy, so sue me!) so my reply may duplicate someone elses!

Anyway during the service (probably a cremation) I favour Billy Connolly's choice of "Mother O'Leary's Cow" - or "There'll be a hot time in the old town tonight" followed by Prodigy's "Firestarter" as I disappear through the curtain!

This will inevitably cause inconsolable weeping and hysterical laughter in equal amounts, so I guess I got the balance right!

If the ******* bury me there'll be a lot of confusion regarding the music!

cremation: "what it is to burn" by Finch

Depending on the day whether it is religious or not I would have Sarah Brightman singing Pie Jesu, and Andreas Bocelli singing Panis Angelicus...........however depending on how many of my freinds turn up I may possibly switch to Queens Who wants to live forever and James Blunt's Goodbye my Lover

My funeral CD is already cut:

Who Wants To Live Forever by Queen

The Opera Bit from the film Hannibal

Always Look On The Bright Side of Life

plus a couple of Poems read out by me

Seems morbid but why not

just to see peoples faces

Live and Let Die - the bond theme

and

I feel good by James Brown or get up off of that thing and dance till you feel better also by James Brown.

Jon
My choice would be Isreal Kamamawiwo'ole's "Somewhere over the Rainbow"
