Have a look at The Beatles Story, its by the Liver Building . The piano belonging to John is there ( I think George Michael owns it?). The Cavern Club is on Matthew Street but it is signposted lots anyway.
Also how about a trip to Woolton (10 minute bus ride) to see Strawberry Field. As you know it is an orphanage run by the Sally Army. There used to be a lovely cafe just down the road. You can get authentic "scouse" (like Irish stew), there.
Penny Lane is also not far away. But all the references have since gone. Again though I am sure there is still an air of nostalgia omnipresent.
Enjoy.
this is quite informative.
The replica Cavern is at the Beatles story - an exhibition about the Beatles which is supposed to be really good.
The real Cavern was demolished but you can still see where it was and go to the one they replaced it with - it's in Mathew St in the centre of town.
