Scratched IPod

I have the 60gb Black Video IPod and through having it in my handbag without a cover have made it terribly scratched. Does anyone know if theres anything i can do to remove them?

You can get these kind of wax wipes that you use on glass and metal surfaces but until first I highly recommend keeping it in an iPod sock or something.
