Play Dead by Bjork. Powerful and bril.liant
Nightwish....they fuse rock with classical

Gethsemane is amazing song
Try the opening to Night on Bare Mountain by Mussorsky or O Fortuna from Carmina Burano at full blast. I did this once in the car and gave the bloke who pulled up next to me the fright of his life. They both start really soft and then suddenly go really loud!! If you are old enought to remember the old Maxell tape adverts, they use the Mussorsky piece in that. The guy is sitting in front of his tape deck and gets blown away by the music from it.
'Glosoli' by 'Sigur Ros' has a quiet beginning but then about 3-4 mins into the song it will blow you away!!

Muse - Plug in baby

In fact just about anything by Muse.

Pearl Jam - Alive

Nirvana - Smells like teen spirit

Foo Fighters - All my life

Again, just about anything by the Foos.

Rage against the Machine - Killing in the name of

Prodigy - Smack my b1tch up ( probably the most amazing and powerful intro I have ever heard, must be played so loud you blow your speakers!)

Sorry these seem really obvious choices but they are top tunes.

The opening sequence to Bat Out Of Hell by Meatloaf will stir you up, and for an instant blast, try Rock And Roll by Led Zepplin, or Fireball by Deep Purple.
try unchain the night , or kiss of death by dokken .great rock tracks. psycho circus by kiss.

'the movie' by aerosmith....virtually instrumental, It's amazing

In the classical area you want to experiment with the organ repertoire. It'll not only blow your mind, but your speakers as well. Try Liszt's Fantasia and Fugue on B.A.C.H., or Widor's Toccata (the one from his 5th symphony - it's quite well known); but if you really want mind-blowing stuff, try Messiaen.

If organ isn't your thing then try:

The last two movements of Berlioz' Symphonie fantasque;

Tchaikovsky's overture Francesca da Rimini;

Scriabin's Poeme d'extase

Most of the tracks on Apocalyptica's album Cult.

  1. master of puppets - metallica. burn in hell - judas priest riff-raff --live--ac-dc all must be played extremely loud on quality system, alcohol optional.
I'd go for something like Mars by Holst from the Planets suite. Or 'Will You Follow Me?' by Rob Dougan. Also, good choice by Will666. Another fave of mine is Silence by Delerium (NB not the dance version, this is important, it must be the album {Karma} version).
conquest of paradise by vangelis!

Hi Dan,

Can't think of any others. I'll have to have another listen to my classical collection!

Try sixteen by forward russia. Needs to be played very loud
