I have heard in quite a few rap songs references to these. I know that 40's are bottles of beer but why 40's? Is it because of the size of bottle? Also what is Alazay? Don't know if that's spelt right but tried googling it and could get anything. I know it's a type of drink but what? Thanks.

Hi Wu Banger,

Forty - Can be used to mean a forty ounce bottle of beer (as you suggested) or alternatively a .40 calibre firearm.

Alazhay - is a type of hard liqor reputed to be favoured by 'hard men'. It features in a number of Tupac Shakur songs.
