Ugly Kid Joe did song called Cats In The Cradle.Does anyone know who wrote/sang it originally?

Harry Chapin.... its rubbish compared to their version. You will get lots of people telling you Cat Stevens did it but he has never recorded this. I asked the same q somehwere else, and they were all wrong.

Hi missmooncat,

I soooooo have to disagree with Goodsoulette there. Admittedly I am a big Harry Chapin fan but his famous live version of the song knocks spots off the Ugly Kid Joe one. As he wrote 'Cats In The Cradle' it was he who put the feeling into the words not Ugly Kid Joe !

But everyone is entitled to their opinion. Most of his other stuff is fantastic too. True his voice wasn't the greatest but a lot of his songs are (moving) stories set to music. I've loaned CDs of his to friends of mine in the past and it always takes me ages to get them back. LOL. If you want me to e-mail his live version of the song (the best one IMO) I'll be happy to do so.

Incidentally Harry was killed in a car accident on his way to a concert 25 years ago so that's why you don't hear so much about him now.
