I recently have been told that Blondie did the original version of this song - The version I have heard I although labeled Blondie is definatly by the Divynals.

I look on the net and it has tons of entries saying Blondie did it, but its not on any album and I can't find a download.

So who wrote it and where is it available by blondie?

I have never heard of a version by Blondie (although that doesn't necessarily mean there isn't one!).

"I Touch Myself" was written by songwriting team Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly.

They also wrote "Like a Virgin" (Madonna), "True Colors" (Cyndi Lauper), "Eternal Flame" (The Bangles) and "Alone" (Heart).

Have only heard the Divinyls version and hadn't heard of any Blondie connection
I think this may be an internet myth that has gone out of control. As you say, there are loads of references to it on the net - some forum contributors even claim to own copies.

However, other contributors deny its existence, and there is no information about it in any Blondie discography that I can see. Tellingly, a forum consisting purely of Blondie fans have discussed this and none of them has heard of a Blondie version. The only web page I can find that purports to link to an online stream of it is the one below, but a quick listen will reveal this to be The Divinyls' version:

Curiouser and curiouser...
As one final, though still inconclusive, bit of evidence against its existence, I've seen a couple of sites where the track timing for the "Blondie" version is given as 3:47. This is exactly the same length as The Divinyls' track. No matter how closely a cover version follows the original, I'd have thought it would be difficult to make it the same length to the second.

I'll leave it there, because I'm sounding nerdy. :-)
It's definitely one of those things where someone puts something that's wrong on a website, someone else copies it and before you know it, the wrong info is all over the place.
