Actually Its REM or R.E.M they didnt name themselves after Rapid eye movement but after the three letters which it stands for.. REM
Stipe picked the name after flicking through a dictionary.. When asked what REM stands for they reply.. 'REM stands for nothing, but will lie down for anything'
