Hi everyone.

Can someone please tell me who sang the original of Aint Got No - I Got Life.

I know Nina Simone sang it. I know it was in the film Hair.

Someone told me that she is not the original singer and someone else sang it first and was a big hit. It was also a Male singer.

Who the hell was it?

The stage musical production of "Hair" had its first public performance 17th October, 1967.

As part of the original songlist which forms Act 1, the two song combination "Ain't Got No" & "I Got Life" would have originally been performed by members of the cast.

"Hair" opened at the Shaftesbury Theatre in London on 27th September, 1968.

"Ain't Got No - I Got Life" was the first UK hit for Nina Simone, reaching No.2 in the UK Charts during October 1968.

The song had never been in the UK Top 40 prior to this version.
