Does anyone know anything about J G Laya? Indian jazz

I saw an Indian jazz pianist on TV about 12 or 15 years ago, I think his name was J G Laya. He did 2 songs on this programme, one (again, not 100% sure) was called Carnival Of Elephants. He was accompanied by someone playing percussion on a water jug. I've done internet searches for him, looked on allmusic.com, can't find anything.
