I think it may have been inspired by a film called Wonderwall from the late 60's. It's about a man who discovers a hole in the joining wall between his room and the flat next door, and he watches a woman modelling for his photographer neighbour. Anyway, he ends up drilling lots of holes in this wall as becomes totally infatuated with the girl and his "wonderwall". The soundtrack was also writted by George Harrison, another hero of the Gallaghers.
