Who recorded the best piano solo of Macarthur Park?
1 Answers
I am attempting to identify the artist who recorded the long, beautiful piano solo of Macarthur Park. Listening to the brief few seconds of intro available at various places on the Web has been unrevealing. From what I've heard, the piece I'm searching for may have been the one recorded by its creator, Jimmy Webb, but I can't tell for sure. Another possibility is the rendition by Newell Oler, but again I can't hear enough to tell. One thing's certain -- it's nowhere in the 10 minute version by Maynard Ferguson. I bought that one, and although he had plenty of time to bring in a piano solo, he chose to blow his horn instead.
