This has probably been done before but what is your favourite line from a song? Mine is 'Pretty women out walking with gorillas down my street' by Joe Jackson.

Run a close second by :- "You take the grey skies out of my way, you make the sun shine brighter than Doris Day". LOL.
"While you're living, the dreams you had as children fade away"
'her escape was so urgent, she forgot her detergent' in Little Does She Know by Kursaal Flyers is one but i got plenty more.. good Q.
' "Ciao, My shining star", was all it took,'
Can't pick a favourite - toooooooooo many - but this was the most powerful one i heard (as a youth)
"She went up the stairs, Stood up on the vanity chair, Tied her lame belt around the chandelier, And went out kicking at the perfumed air" ("Diamond Smiles", by the Boomtown Rats - my first LP ever ever ever!) as it didn't sink in at first what the lines actually meant, and when it did........
ps. the e in "lame belt" has an accent, it's not a belt with a limp (pronounced "lamay")
'She told me she worked in the morning and started to laugh, I told her I didn't and crawled up to sleep in the bath.' I've always thought that was really funny - Beatles of course! :)
you thought it would be great, but a good mind does not a good f**k make, from in the park by the fall
'Line 3, I forget, but I think, I think it was our first ever bet...And the horse we backed was short of a leg!' and 'I saw two shooting stars last night, I wished on them, but they were only satellites, It's wrong to wish on space hardware!'
Well, like Darth, I too have great difficulty picking out a favourite, there's just too many that mean different things to me, but as this thread seems to be going for humorous/bittersweet lyrics one of my faves is from Soft Cell's "Say hello, wave goodbye"... "What about me? Well I'll find someone, who's not going cheap in the sales..."

Brilliant!

Stars for all - interesting to see the quirky lyrics that stick with people. Darth - I thought you were in IT? Shouldn't ctrl alt 'e' enable you to type lam
'We bet on Lester Piggot 10-1 and let the goldfish go.Bizarre lyrics from'The Days Before Rock and Roll' by Van Morrison.
"there's a club if you'd like to go, you could meet somebody who really loves you, so you go and you stand on your own, you leave on your own, you go home, you cry and you want to die" but that's just the depressive mood i'm in today - and yes i know it's more than 1 line!!!
I'm an egg in the teeth of a shark/ If it's love I'm inspired, I'm up late I'm not tired/ And my life is about to spark. It's Squeeze "If it's love". On the subject of squeeze, who could forget "I never thought that it could happen/ To me and a girl from Clapham" Great question, just off to Kazaa now....
Crowded House song with the line "Hey there goes God with his sexy pants and his sausage dog, And he can't stand Beelzubub because he looks so good in Black"
