just tried to down load mel c on the horizon.i used 6 different sources but all came out with no sound.have artists started blocking downloads

yes - Madonna's people recently flooded the internet with bogus downloads of 'American Life'. Mel C's may have adopted the same tactic.

you wanna get on winmx, i never had a bad download yet out of 1000. This is hocum about flooding the web, on peer 2 peer if a peer gets a bad copy he will delete it so it's not gonna spread far. Days of Audiogalaxy blocking piracy was easy but not so as yet with p2p file sharing

You are joking? It makes me sick when these overpaid superstars begrudge their fans from downloading their songs. If anyone is interested my husband's whole album is available to download on Kazaa, the band's name is Comeg.

coemgen - as you don't approve of people getting paid for working (not just the 'superstars' but everyone who's livelihood depends on people paying for copyrighted, professionally produced material), perhaps you might consider sending me, say, half the money you earn? ;-)

Bootlegging music for personal use is a right of the poor in this greedy unbalanced world mikewith; unless you think they shouldn't have music? or should we just gas the poor because they deserve nothin? That's a rhetorical question :-) Long live kazaa.

as im the person who origanally asked the question i think i should end this argument.;
i down load from kazaa because i can but conversly if it was to be paid for at a small price i would gladly contribute.
the bottom line is that the artists and that include actors and sportsman are paid far too much for their wares but we have a choice,to pay or not pay and the reality is that kazaa does exist and it is free so im fortunate enough not to pay.
perhaps if a cd only cost �3 i would go to hmv.this applies to every thing in life people will find a way not to pay for things if they are over inflated

but music piracy forces the record companies to spend more on keeping their music secure until release (and after-the-horse-has-bolted measures such as bogus floods) and this cost is passed on in the price of CDs. it's a vicious circle and one that i cannot see a please-all solution to. as for CD prices being too high - it's all about perceived value...there's records in my collection that, in hindsight, i'd have paid �30 for...and of course others that i feel weren't worth the money i paid for them. it's a good debate though...maybe it could be continued on another thread somewhere?
