Hi all. I'm trying to track down a song, I think it was released in the 1980's. It sounds very similar to 'What a friend we have in Jesus', but didn't seem to be a religious song. From what I remember it was a solo, sung by a man (with a slightly nasal tone!)

I think the one you want is "Changes" by Alan Price. It was a minor hit April 1988, and the music was "What a friend we have in Jesus". The lyrics are here if you need them:

Just because I'm a saddo who picks up this kind of thing - remember it was used in an '80's VW ad starring Paula Hamilton? Well, because it's originally a hymn, and one (really just one!) person complained to ITV, they were prevented from running the ad. on Sundays in case it offended people's religious beliefs! See, you can invade a country who'se faith is different, but upset one Christian with a TV ad .... doh!
