Is it right to compare "The Robster" with Cliff Richard?

Both are unmarried and are unlikely ever to be..
Both appeal to the young and old alike.
Both have tried and failed miserably to crack America.
Both left a relatively successful boy band to go it alone.. eg (Cliff & the Shadows)
I know Robbie hasn't turned to religion (Not as far as I know) but there's time yet..

There are comparisons and paralleles there, but there are with loads of musicians and singers.

Ozzy Osbourne and Robert Plant - both born in the Midlands, both in hugely influential rock bands, both in bands where the guitarists were highly individual, both had long hair ...

but they are not alike are they?

The comparisons are there, but they are not the same as links, or indications of similar characters, or career paths.
