I'm sure I heard the words 'curly wurly' in then lyrics to this song.
Surely Brucie never meant the Cadbury's chocolate and toffee delight when he wrote it?

She said "I'll turn you on sonny to something strong,
play the song with the funky break"
And go-cart Mozart was checkin' out the weather chart to see if it was safe outside
And little Early-Pearly came by in his curly-wurly and asked me if I needed a ride
Asked me if I needed a ride
But she was...
Blinded by the light,
revved up like a deuce,
another runner in the night
Blinded by the light"
So, not the confectionary item, but I'm not entirely sure what it *does* mean either. Some sort of car, I'm guessing?

It is indeed a Springsteen composition. Originally recorded as the first track on his debut album Greetings From Asbury Park NJ back in 1973 - we Brits took a while to catch on to him and he didn't really break through here until the Born In The USA album in 1984 (though he'd had a couple of minor hits before that).
MMEB's cover version was released in 1976.
