I have a few of his albums and really like them. But I'm not much of an expert on reggae. What else could I try that is similar to Mr Cliff to expand my horizons?

Yep, i seen Jimmy Cliff on 'Buzzcocks last week, cool dude; Eddy Grant of Equals maybe.
I think reggae is one of those types of music like say jazz that can vary greatlly from one artist to the next. I think the best idea in this case is to buy a fairly cheap best of Reggea album and see 1. if you like the other artists and 2 of those which you like best, then get a single album by those better artists and see if in general you like reggae or its just jimmy cliff. Alternatively there are various reggea shows on the BBC which you canlisten to online.
Jimmy Cliff is pretty unique. Have you heard Toots & the Maytals? Steel Pulse? They don't have JC's ear for a tune, perhaps, but the 'vibe' is certainly there. (Have you noticed how hard it is to describe and contrast different music in a few words?)

For vocal styling you could try John Holt or Gregory Isaacs, both get a good groove going!
