I was watching Friends the other day and I heard a song a particularly liked. It sounded like it was by U2 but it wasn't any I had heard. For example it wasn't 'Sometimes You Can't Make it on Your Own' or 'Where the streets have no name' or 'With or Without you' but it did sound a little like the traditional scratchy echoey U2 guitar sound. Also, to confuse things more, I heard it on another channel, quickly put subtitles on, only ot be told it was Sweet Child Of Mine by The Guns and Roses, which it isn't! Please help. Cheers.

Maybe if you specified the scene, we could go have a look at it.

Erm it's been used a few times in the scene transitions when they show the new york sky line and everything, and i think it was uses at the end of the episode when Ross dresses up as a sailor like in 'An officer and a gentleman'. It's really guitary, no lyrics are ever sung.
they quite often use with or without you for the ross/rachal scenes
With or Without You by U2 was the song used when Ross and Rachel were on a break
