D J Equipment
2 Answers
i've always been interested in making/listening to music and different beats but never really done much about it untill i decided recently that i wanted some dj decks.I'm a complete novice at that sort of stuff but i was wondering if there was anybody experienced enough out there who could advise me on any decent start up kit if there is one, or because i've realised it can get quite expensive, whether its worth starting up something like this at 23 years having not touched a turntable etc. in my life.?

I think you have got to make sure that it is something that you are sure you wanna do as it is expensive even for a half decent starter package, the only good thing is Decks etc are always sort after so you shouldnt have much problem selling the equipment if you dont like it. Have a look on ebay and you will see there are loads of bits of kit. If you are going to go for proper Turntables instead of CD players i would make sure that you purchase Direct Drive tunrtables and not Belt drive as they are pants and wont do what you will need them to do. I would recommend Technics SL1210 as they are still the industry standards and are reliable workhorses and wont let you down , mine never have.! It really depends on what type/s of music you are going to be working with and what style of Dj ing you are wanting to adopt as to what mixer will best suit your requirements there are some great two channel good allrounders though such as Numark , Vestax , Technics etc. You will also need some headphones , closed cap ones are the best for Dj ing altough not to everyones choice. It may be worth you locating a DJ Equipment shop and talking to them as i am sure they can let you demo different bits of kit so you can try before you buy , any decent shop will do this. I hope this has maybe been some help to you, feel free to ask anything else! Good luck and hope you have fun!
