Does anyone know what this chord is? It is E played normally but with an added G on the top E string. So, From top to bottom here is the fretting: 3 0 1 2 2 0. The closest I can get is E7 (which is 0 3 1 2 2 0).

It's doesn't really have a proper name the closest i think you can get is E add#9 (anyone else?).
It sounds dischordant (sp?) because you are playing both the major and minor 3rd (G# and G) in the same chord. It sounds more harmonious if you keep to the minor (3 0 0 2 2 0) and if you put a D in (the 7th) you sound remarkably like Oasis (3 3 0 2 2 0).
True buttons, but it entirely depends on the tonal centre of the song...What key is the song in Oliver? If it's in E could i recommend the using Eadd9 simply moving the top string back one fret? If it's G or D the the chord button mentions may well suit better.
